State Survivor Benefits For Missouri

War Time Veterans Survivors Grant

ELIGIBILITY

  • Children, stepchildren and spouses remarried or unremarried
  • Children must be under the age of 25
  • Service member must have been killed in action or died of a service connected disability, Suicides are covered provided it can be proved that they were service connected (PTSD)
  • The veteran must have been a Missouri state resident at time of entry into service or immediately prior to death. There are no residency requirements for the student
  • Can be used with federal benefits

BENEFITS

  • Equivalent of full tuition and fees
  • An allowance up to $2,000 per semester for room and board
  • An allowance up to $500 for books per semester
  • Must be used at a Missouri state funded postsecondary institution
  • Can only be used for undergraduate degree
  • A 25 student limit on the program

DOCUMENTS

  • Copy of DD1300 or DD214
  • Certification from the Missouri Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Wartime Veterans Survivors Grant paper application

Application due date: There is no application deadline, but it is first come first serve and a 25 student limit on the program
