TAPS at U.S. Space and Rocket Center Space Camp

Children in grades 1st to 8th who have lost a parent/guardian or sibling who served in the Armed Forces are invited to participate in the Surveyor Space Program at U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

Surveyor is a one-night, structured educational adventure that allows campers the opportunity to explore the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Campers will participate as trainees where they will train like an astronaut through astronaut training simulators, build and launch Action-Reaction rockets, see a movie in the Spacedome IMAX theater, and experience an educational hands-on scientific presentation.

SCHEDULE

Day 1: Campers will participate in activities as listed in the sample agenda below.

• Camp Check-in
• Program Starts and Orientation
• Astronaut Training Simulators
• Action-Reaction Rockets Activity
• Prep for Dinner
• Dinner
• Science on Orbit Exhibit
• History of Spaceflight in Museum
• Prep for Bed
• Lights Out and Bedtime 

Day 2: Campers will continue their training.  Camp ends at 2:00 p.m.

CAMP FEES

A $50 deposit for each family will be collected at the time of registration. At the conclusion of Space Camp, you may choose to donate this deposit to TAPS to support future programs; otherwise you will receive a full refund.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, TAPS is able to provide camp activities, one night onsite lodging, all meals, and T-shirts for all campers at no cost to you.

LODGING AND TRANSPORTATION

Campers will be staying overnight at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center on September 15th.  If you will need lodging before or after your child participates in Space Camp, please call Youth Programs at 800-959-TAPS (8277) for off-site lodging information.

Families will need to cover the cost of transportation to and from Huntsville, Alabama and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.
