TAPS Cruise to Mexico

All aboard! You’ve asked, and we’ve listened. TAPS is thrilled to announce the launch of one of the most requested trips by survivors — a TAPS cruise.

Royal Caribbean is offering a special group rate to a limited number of TAPS families for a four-night cruise from Tampa, Florida, to Cozumel, Mexico, on the Brilliance of the Seas cruise ship. 

The Brilliance of the Seas is loaded with different activities for everyone. Foodies can spend their time trying out the numerous restaurants while daredevils can ride the surf simulator, rock climb, ice skate and golf. Broadway-style shows, kids and teen clubs, a spa and adult-exclusive pools allow guests a chance to unwind. There will be a TAPS family dinner every night and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow survivors. Visit the Royal Caribbean website to learn more about the ship and Cozumel.

This self-funded travel opportunity is open to all survivors including parents, widows, adult children, siblings, battle buddies, extended family, etc.

SCHEDULE

Day 1: We will set sail from Tampa at 4 p.m. on Jan. 2. As we sail to Cozumel, there will be opportunities for us to come together as a TAPS family for meals and in a private TAPS meeting room where we can share stories of our heroes and enjoy each other's company.

Day 2: As we continue to sail to Cozumel, you’ll be able to explore the cruise ship and take advantage of all the ship activities. 

Day 3: On the third day, the ship will dock in Cozumel. Cozumel is known for its vibrant blue water, sandy beaches, diving and snorkeling, marine life and ancient Mayan ruins. 

Day 4: The ship heads back to Florida on our fourth day, and guests will have the opportunity to again enjoy all that the ship has to offer.

Day 5: We will disembark in Tampa and say our goodbyes.

TRIP FEES

Self-funded travel opportunity costs are not covered by TAPS. The Royal Caribbean is offering a special rate of $594 per person to TAPS families. This price includes taxes, accommodations, dining, onboard entertainment and activities, youth and teen programs, and a fitness center. This does not include your transportation to and from Tampa or passport fees.

A $200 per person deposit is required, and guests have until Oct. 19 to pay the full cost of the trip. Fees for the trip will be paid directly to our partners at the Royal Caribbean. 

LODGING AND TRANSPORTATION

You’ll need to cover the cost of your transportation to and from Tampa. Please plan to arrive in Tampa before 4 p.m. on Jan. 2.

We will have lodging on the ship for all four nights. The TAPS block includes upgraded, two-person balcony staterooms. The Royal Caribbean is happy to meet accommodations for those who wish to have a different room or more people in a stateroom.

Pricing is based on double occupancy per room. If you don’t submit a rooming request, we will match you with a roommate. If you would prefer a single room, please indicate that in the questionnaire and understand that a single room adds additional costs to your trip. As we prepare to leave for the trip, we’ll have a chance to get to know our fellow TAPS family travelers in a Facebook group and through regular conference calls.

APPLICATION DETAILS

Please fill out the event questionnaire by August 19 at 5 p.m. Eastern. Spots for the trip will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Survivors will be notified by July 18 of selection status. All participants must agree to the TAPS Travel Code of Conduct.
