TAPS cancels Tampa Regional Seminar due to the approach of Hurricane Irma

To our families and friends,

TAPS is cancelling this week’s Tampa Regional Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp scheduled for Sept. 8-11 based on the State of Emergency in Florida.

We understand this is a disappointment, but our first concern is always for the safety and security of our TAPS family. We have seen recently the devastation hurricanes can leave in their wake and rather than create a situation that could impede local disaster preparedness or expose attendees to danger, we have chosen to cancel this event.

TAPS is very active in the Tampa area, and we look forward to having another Regional Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp in the area soon. There will also be chances to connect with your TAPS Family through our TAPS Togethers, so be sure to check out our upcoming schedule: TAPS Events. And remember you can always call the TAPS National Military Survivor Helpline at any time of the day or night, access our resources and casework assistance, get connected to a Peer Mentor (or become one!), all by calling 800-959-TAPS (8277).

For those who registered to attend the Tampa Regional Seminar, we will be happy to assist if you are met with any difficulty in making the last-minute travel cancellations and adjustments. If you have challenges in cancelling flights, please contact us at 800-959-TAPS (8277) and we’ll do our best to help you.

For everyone in the path of Hurricane Irma, our thoughts are with you. Your TAPS family is here if you need to speak to someone for extra support and care. Our care team and casework department stands ready to be of assistance. We encourage you to be mindful of the forecasts and follow the direction of your local authorities.
