Presented by the TAPS Institute for Hope and Healing, this 3-session experimental workshop with Heather Stang, MA, C-IATY and Min Krishnamurthy, MS, RD, LDN, will address how to care for your grieving body. Topics will include reducing stress with relaxation meditation, balancing mood with nutrition and functional foods, and using compassion meditation for meaning-making and post-traumatic growth.

Heather is the author of Mindfulness and Grief and is the host of the Mindfulness and Grief  Podcast. She holds a Master’s Degree in Thanatology and is a certified yoga therapist. Heather serves on the TAPS Board of Advisors and partners with repected organizations including: The National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation, National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, Association of Death Education and Counseling, Maryland Hospital Association, and the LiveOnNY Organ Donation Network.

Min is the in-store Nutritionist for Giant Food at the Potomac Yard in Alexandria, Virginia. She holds a Master of Science degree in Nutrition from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington and completed her dietetic internship with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is passionate about functional foods, intuitive eating principles, and mindfulness through meditation and yoga.

Program Details

This workshop includes 3 sessions: 

  • Session I: Relaxation Meditation to Ease the Anxiety, Stress and Tension of Grief
    10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Session II: Balancing Mood with Nutrition
    12:15 p.m. - 1:15 p.m. (lunch provided)
  • Session III: Compassion Meditation for Meaning Making and Post-traumatic Growth
    1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Registration is $12.75 for one or all sessions. No meditation experience is required and all spiritual and religious beliefs are welcome and respected.

Mindfulness and Grief – with Guided Meditations to Calm Your Mind and Restore Your Spirit by Heather Stang will be available for purchase and Heather will be happy to sign copies on request.
