Donated Flight Opportunities

DEADLINE TO APPLY: March 31

TAPS is able to offer, through the generosity of the Fisher House Foundation, a limited number of flights for survivors to attend the TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp.

TAPS will award tickets to those who feel that the cost of a flight would prohibit them from attending or cause a financial burden. If this is the case, we encourage you to apply.   

Please note:

Flights are available on a first come, first served basis.

Flights are booked with a Thursday departure and a Tuesday return OR a Thursday departure and Monday evening return.

For those confirmed to attend the Peer Mentor Training, your flight will arrive Wednesday.

You must be sure you are able to attend the seminar. Please do not apply if you aren't confident that you will be able to come to event.

Payment must be received by March 31st  and/or a scholarship request must be made by March 24th.

Register for the TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp

Complete all intake forms

Pay for your registration via personal payment or TAPS scholarship by March 31st

Access the travel information form that is only available to those who have fully paid and supply TAPS with all requested information

If you have applied for a registration or hotel scholarship, confirm with TAPS that you are able to attend if TAPS does not grant you a registration or hotel scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

Flights are donated to TAPS by the Fisher House Foundation's Hero Miles and we must abide by their guidelines. Only ONE flight will be awarded per person per calendar year for eligible TAPS events- the TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar in Washington, D.C. over Memorial Day weekend or the TAPS National Suicide Survivor Seminar held in the fall.

To apply for a flight, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Your Loved one must have been active duty at the time of their death or their death was related to their service in current combat/military efforts
  • You must be an immediate family member of the service member, such as parent, step-parent, legal guardian, spouse, ex-spouse, fiance, child, adopted or step-child who was raised by the service member, sibling, or step-sibling)
  • You must not have cancelled or not showed up for a previous Hero Miles flight Guidelines

Remember, the last day to provide your travel information for a donated flight is March 31st.
