State Survivor Benefits For Michigan
Children of Veterans Tuition Grant
ELIGIBILITY
- Children only between 16 and 26
- Service members cause of death must be ruled line of duty or due to a service connected disability by the Department of Veterans Affairs,
- Service member must have entered service from Michigan or been a Michigan resident at time of death, student must be a Michigan resident
- Can be used with federal benefits
BENEFITS
- A scholarship of up to $2,800 a year with a total of $11,200 for 4 years
- Amount of scholarship is not to exceed total amount of tuition including other grants and scholarships
- Can only be used for an undergraduate degree
- Must be used at a Michigan state funded postsecondary institution
DOCUMENTS
- Copy of DD1300 or DD214
- Copy of student’s birth certificate
- Copy of service members death certificate
- Proof of residency
- Completed application
