State Survivor Benefits For Maryland
Edward T. Conroy Memorial Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY
- Children and unremarried spouses
- Children must be at least 16 years old
- Service members cause of death must be ruled line of duty, Suicides are covered provided it can be proved that they were service connected (PTSD)
- Service member must have been a Maryland state resident at time of death, student must be a Maryland resident at time of application
- Can be used with federal benefits, but scholarship amount will be adjusted based on other financial aid being received
BENEFITS
- Award of up to $10,085 towards tuition and fees (cost of in state tuition and fees)
- Does not cover room, board or books
- Can be used towards graduate degrees
- Must be used at a Maryland state funded postsecondary institution
- Awards can be used for a maximum of 5 years
DOCUMENTS
- Copy of DD1300 or DD214
- Copy of students birth certificate
- Copy of service members death certificate
- Copy of marriage certificate for spouses
- Completed application form
