Tuition Waiver For Families Of Fallen Soldiers/ First Responders

ELIGIBILITY

  • Children, stepchildren and unremarried spouses
  • Children must complete benefits prior to 30th birthday
  • Service member's cause of death must be ruled line of duty by the Department of Veterans Affairs on or after 9/11
  • Service member must have been an Arizona state resident at time of death or stationed in Arizona. Student must be Arizona state resident at time of application.
  • Can be used with federal benefits

BENEFITS

  • Waiver of full in-state tuition and fees
  • Does not cover room, board or books
  • Covers a maximum of 144 credit hours or four years, whichever comes first
  • Can only be used toward undergraduate degrees
  • Must be used at an Arizona state-funded postsecondary institution

DOCUMENTS

  • Copy of DD1300 or DD214
  • Copy of service member's death certificate
  • Copy of marriage license for stepchildren and spouses
  • Copy of birth certificate for all students
  • Proof of residency
  • Most recent transcripts
  • Letter of eligibility from the Department of Veterans Affairs
