State Survivor Benefits For Arizona
Tuition Waiver For Families Of Fallen Soldiers/ First Responders
ELIGIBILITY
- Children, stepchildren and unremarried spouses
- Children must complete benefits prior to 30th birthday
- Service member's cause of death must be ruled line of duty by the Department of Veterans Affairs on or after 9/11
- Service member must have been an Arizona state resident at time of death or stationed in Arizona. Student must be Arizona state resident at time of application.
- Can be used with federal benefits
BENEFITS
- Waiver of full in-state tuition and fees
- Does not cover room, board or books
- Covers a maximum of 144 credit hours or four years, whichever comes first
- Can only be used toward undergraduate degrees
- Must be used at an Arizona state-funded postsecondary institution
DOCUMENTS
- Copy of DD1300 or DD214
- Copy of service member's death certificate
- Copy of marriage license for stepchildren and spouses
- Copy of birth certificate for all students
- Proof of residency
- Most recent transcripts
- Letter of eligibility from the Department of Veterans Affairs
