TAPS Togethers: Great Smoky Mountains National Park Fishing Day
All survivors, ages 10 and older are invited to join us for a day of fly-fishing and exploration in Great Smoky Mountains National Park to connect with fellow survivors and enjoy one of America's most visited National Parks!
In partnership with the National Park Trust and Trout Unlimited, TAPS has prepared for you a unique opportunity to share time in the great outdoors with your fellow survivors as we learn the basics of fly-fishing and experience awe-inspiring views, both great and small.
All populations and accessibility levels are welcome to attend, but please remember that the primary activity on this event will be fishing in moving water. Please do not let this discourage you from attending the event, as we can accommodate accessibility needs. Please register by November 2, 2024 to secure your space. Snacks, lunch and water, as well as all tour expenses will be provided free for all participants!
We will spend our day on guided experiences with National Parks Service Rangers and experienced fly-fishing guides and volunteers from Trout Unlimited, thanks to National Park Trust, who will provide both education and support for our physical safety in a variety of outdoor spaces. This event will also be hosted in conjunction with Project Healing Waters.
We will begin our day at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont in Townsend, Tennessee at 9 a.m. for a welcome from the National Parks Service, National Park Trust, Trout Unlimited, Project Healing Waters and TAPS. The event will conclude around 4 p.m.
Any gear and equipment needed for this experience will be provided to families at no cost. If you have your own fly-fishing equipment, feel free to bring it with you.
