TAPS is the national nonprofit organization providing compassionate care and comprehensive resources for all those grieving the death of a military or veteran loved one.

Since 1994, TAPS has provided comfort and hope 24/7 through a national peer support network and connection to grief resources, all at no cost to surviving families and loved ones.

TAPS provides a variety of programs to survivors nationally and worldwide. Our National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp has been held annually in Washington, D.C., over Memorial Day weekend since 1994. TAPS also conducts regional survivor seminars for adults and youth programs at locations across the country, as well as retreats. Our staff can connected survivors to counseling in your community and help navigate benefits and resources.

Description:  TAPS Website developer responsible for the entire lifecycle of website development, from initial concept to maintenance. This includes coding, designing user interfaces with HTML/CSS, integrating back-end services and databases, testing, debugging, and ensuring the site is responsive and performant. Solo developers often act as their own project manager, communicating directly with clients or stakeholders, gathering requirements, and staying up-to-date on new technologies

Key responsibilities

  • Front-end and back-end development: Writing efficient, testable code to create a site's layout, user interface, and functionality.
  • Client and stakeholder management: Gathering project specifications and requirements, and communicating with clients to ensure their needs are met.
  • Testing and debugging: Performing quality assurance to ensure cross-browser compatibility, optimize performance, and fix bugs.
  • Maintenance and scaling: Maintaining existing sites, implementing updates, and working on expanding and scaling the website's capacity.
  • Continuous learning: Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends to apply them to projects.
  • Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical documentation as needed. 
  • Provide continued support for one or more web properties.
  • Maintain communication with team members and supervisors concerning the direction of the website.
  • Code and script applications.
  • Perform routine site audits, as well as ongoing maintenance, on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • Technical skills: Proficiency in languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other back-end languages, as well as database management.
  • Project management: Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communication: Clear and professional communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving: Debugging, troubleshooting, and finding creative solutions to technical challenges
