Casework Advocate

Description
The Casework Advocate provides direct support to military survivors seeking assistance through Casework Assistance Program. Reporting to the Vice President and Manager of Casework Assistance and Education Support Services, the advocate helps surviving families navigate benefits, resources, and services following the loss of a military loved one. This role requires compassionate survivor engagement, strong attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to the mission of TAPS
Responsibilities
- Serve as a point of contact for assigned military survivor cases, offering individualized advocacy and support.
- Assist survivors in understanding and accessing available benefits, scholarships, programs, and services.
- Maintain detailed, confidential case notes and update survivor files in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with external partners (e.g., VA, DOD, and service organizations) to advocate for survivor needs.
- Respond to survivor inquiries with empathy, professionalism, and a survivor-centered focus.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development to stay current on survivor support resources.
- Participate in internal and external events by providing briefings and tabling support.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (Human Services, Public Administration, Policy, or Education
- preferred) or 3-5 years of related experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases concurrently.
- Familiarity with military and veteran communities is preferred.
- Experience in casework, benefits navigation, college preparation, or survivor support services is highly
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
