Data Entry Specialist, TAPS Survivor Data

Reports to: Manager, Survivor Data



This position is responsible for entering and maintaining data in accordance with TAPS Survivor Data policies and procedures. The Data Entry Specialist position is a full-time position with flexible hours and will be performed remotely.



  • Enter all special event attendees in either survivor or supporter database
  • Research new and existing records to ensure complete data to include demographic information such as basic contact information, obituaries, media links, and photos are accurate
  • Enter new survivors into the TAPS database to include research on background information of the survivor as requested
  • Update email lists from Constant Contact via Communications Department
  • Update survivor data as needed
  • Locate errors within data entry processes, procedures, or sources,  and communicate discrepancies with appropriate staff
  • Make address updates from NCOA list
  • Attend team meetings and organization meetings



  • Self-motivated and highly attentive to detail
  • Proficient in Google applications, Microsoft Office Programs, other database applications and platforms
  • Demonstrates tactful and compassionate communication skills
  • Able to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Effective time management skills and able to prioritize tasks
  • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment, and troubleshoot, identify viable options and problem-solve
  • Must possess a professional demeanor



  • A subscription to a reliable, high-speed internet (minimum 5 mbps upload; minimum 15 mbps download)
  • Hardwired internet connection is preferred such as DSL or Cable; No dial-up
  • Quiet place to work with a web camera at eye-level for video conferences
  • Access to Google Hangouts App on a mobile device
