Volunteer Opportunities for Grief Professionals

Mental health professionals have several volunteer opportunities to support military surviving families in uniquely personal ways.

If you would like to donate your time, professional services and expertise, we’d love to have you. Please call 800-959-TAPS (8277) or complete our volunteer application to get involved as a professional volunteer.

TAPS Care Groups meet monthly across the country anywhere there are TAPS survivors who want to come together in their own community. Co-facilitated with a TAPS Peer Mentor, care groups include informal sharing and activities and are guided by our Community Based Care Team. If you would like to support a care group in your community, complete our volunteer application, selecting the Support Group Co-Facilitator skills checkbox.

If you have a particular interest in art, dance, play, music, writing, family or other therapy modalities, we welcome a conversation to connect about how our families could benefit from your gifts.

If you are a licensed mental health provider, you also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a survivor in your community. By donating your time and expertise, you can expand your own fluency in grief counseling and make a real difference for a surviving family member or loved one.

You can even offer your services through VideoMedicine, a HIPAA-compliant, telemedicine solution, and partner of TAPS. VideoMedicine providers offer our surviving military families and loved ones the free mental health counseling support they need and deserve. VideoMedicine is free for providers, and no contract is required. If you are interested in offering your services through VideoMedicine, email zaneta@taps.org.
