South Carolina Tuition Program for Children of War Veterans


  • Children and stepchildren
  • Children must be under the age of 26
  • Service members cause of death must have died on active duty, or from a service connected disability
  • Service member must have been a South Carolina state resident when entering service or for at least one year immediately prior to death, student must be a South Carolina state resident at time of application
  • Can be used with federal benefits


  • Waiver of tuition and fees
  • Does not cover room, board or books
  • Must be used at a South Carolina state funded postsecondary institution
  • Can only be used towards an undergraduate degree


  • Copy of DD1300 or DD214
  • Copy of service members death certificate
  • Copy of marriage license for stepchildren
  • Proof of residency
  • Completed application
