Children of Deceased Veterans Scholarship


  • Children only
  • Benefits must be used by the age of 26
  • Service member must have been killed in action or as a result of military service; all other causes are considered on a case by case basis
  • Service member must have been a New Mexico resident when entering service or at time of death, student must be a New Mexico resident at time of application
  • Can be used with federal benefits


  • Full tuition waiver
  • $150 a semester towards fees and books
  • Does not cover room and board
  • Can only be used towards undergraduate degrees
  • Must be used at a New Mexico state funded postsecondary institution


  • Copy of DD1300 or DD214
  • Copy of student’s birth certificate
  • Copy of service members death certificate
  • Proof of residency
  • DVS form 6- Application for Scholarship for Children of Deceased Military Service Members

Application due date: May 31 for fall; November 30 for spring
