We request you sign up at least 24 hours before you attend this session so that we can ensure the integrity of the group and answer any questions you may have.
With the arrival of a new year, resolutions and goals come to the forefront. For those of us who have experienced loss, creating a vision of the future can seem daunting or even impossible.
Fear and pain are powerful motivators to shut down the part of us that wants to dream. But change is possible. New, good things can and will come again. We don’t have to give into believing that what happens to us is the most important part of our story. What would it be like to choose new dreams or new purpose, even in our grief? What would it be like to dare to dream of something new? Although we will go over examples and ideas for your board, know that there is no right or wrong way to create it: this is about and for you! No art experience is required, only an open heart.
Schedule
January’s online offerings include three unique sessions (they’re only available online!) that are aimed at bringing some mindfulness, some movement, and some motivation into the first month of your year. There may be no such thing as a “good start” to a year without your loved one, but we do know that there can be a better start.
Two of this month’s sessions involve materials (vision boards) or simple tools (self-care) - for those, more information on what you might need will come with the email confirmation that you get when you sign up. All of this month’s sessions are hosted by TAPS staff, who are also looking forward to seeing you and who are happy to answer any questions email online@taps.org.
Make sure to visit our Online Community page for additional coping skills sessions offered around coping skills and new topics each month.
What to Expect
This online session will be between 90 to 120 minutes; duration varies based on participant numbers and discussion dynamics. Joining for the entire time is not a requirement but the virtual room will close 10 minutes after it begins.
In this interactive session, we invite you to create a visual reminder for yourself of the things you want to draw into your life in the new year. After the introduction, the first part of the session will be devoted to individually creating our vision boards.
The second part of the session will be devoted to offering the opportunity to share what you have created. Sharing is never required, only invited.
