Boston Wellness Weekend
All adult survivors 18 and older are invited to join TAPS for our Boston Wellness Weekend.
The TAPS Inner Warrior Program will help you find and connect with a part of you that’s committed not just to surviving, but thriving. We’ll build resolve and courage and get stronger every day.
Sometimes we need to shake things up to get things moving — and that’s exactly what you'll be doing at the Boston Wellness Weekend as you experience a life-changing weekend of fitness and movement.
Kickstart your existing fitness and mindfulness routines, learn more about rewiring both brain and body, and find a sense of purpose in your grief journey in a city founded in resilience, community and growth.
The Boston Wellness Weekend will be full of adventurous movement and mindfulness. With your TAPS family, you'll experience a Boston sunset while doing yoga on a harbor island, run the stairs of an iconic university, learn from local health and wellness experts, challenge yourself during a fitness scavenger hunt and more.
Your growth won’t stop once the event ends. You'll gain an ongoing community of support with Inner Warrior coaches and peers to keep you inspired, encouraged and accountable.
Day 1: The first day is set aside as a travel day. Plan to arrive in the afternoon. We’ll begin the weekend with dinner and a welcome session at 6 p.m. Our first evening together will be one of fellowship and ceremony, setting the tone for our weekend of movement and growth.
Day 2-3: Each day, you'll learn how to find inspiration in yourself and others. We’ll be doing different activities that get you moving and motivated. Our workshops will focus on learning how to slow down, how to grow even when you can’t see the horizon, how to say yes to adventure and so much more.
Day 4: For our closing session, we'll walk or run out of the darkness and over Heartbreak Hill, one of the most famous landmarks of the Boston Marathon, and we'll finish with brunch at a local eatery.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, TAPS will cover lodging, most meals, transportation while at the camp, coaches, expert workshops, activities and a T-shirt. A $50 deposit will be collected at the time of registration. If your plans change unexpectedly, the fee is refundable until Aug. 25.
You'll be expected to cover the cost of your transportation to and from the event, some meals and your exercise gear (athletic shoes, fitness clothing, etc.).
We'll be staying in the heart of the city at the Walker Center. We'll use lots of public transportation and self-powered transportation (walking!) to experience the city and get moving.
Lodging will be provided for all attendees at the retreat center. TAPS covers lodging at no cost to you, and we'll take care of booking your lodging for the event.
You'll need to cover the cost of your transportation to and from Boston. Please do not make travel arrangements until you receive a confirmation email after registering. Once registered, we'll send you a welcome email that will have information about flight itineraries, packing lists, cancellation policies, and additional event details.
This event is open to all skill levels. While the weekend will be one of purposeful movement that will connect with some of the deepest parts of our loss, the event curriculum won't involve a great deal of formal grief work and will involve a lot of walking in addition to our fitness activities. We advise that participants are able to complete 30 minutes of moderate exercise (brisk walking, biking, elliptical, etc.) before they attend.
Registration opens Monday, June 11, and is conducted on a first come, first served basis. A waitlist will form once registration has reached capacity.
Because our programming is designed to create both individual and community resilience, we ask that you're able to commit to the full weekend. If you have a special circumstance, please reach out to our Inner Warrior team at firstname.lastname@example.org or 800-959-TAPS (8277).
If you have any questions about this event, please email email@example.com or call 800-959-TAPS (8277).
