TAPS Young Adult Wild Dunes Experience

Young Adult Experiences offer real-world life skills to military surviving children and siblings, ages 18 to 25 years.  The purpose of this program is to ease the transition into adulthood for our young survivors as we guide them utilizing workshops and hands-on experience in Five Core Pillars: Personal Development, Career Guidance, Financial Stability, Communications, And Service To Others.
 

OVERVIEW

The TAPS Young Adult Wild Dunes Experience will 6 days/5 nights of growth, healing, peer mentorship and professional guidance. This experience is set on the beautiful coast of the Isle of Palms, South Carolina, just outside of Charleston. Each pillar of the program is thoughtfully and uniquely engaged throughout the week using workshops, hands-on activities, and intentional exercises. Personal development will be highlighted through learning life skills throughout the Experience to uplift and maintain physical, emotional, and mental well being while engaging in several high adventure physical activities. We will be engaging in a full-day kayak excursion, sunrise yoga sessions on the beach and sessions that enhance our emotional well-being. Attendees will sharpen their inter and intra communications skills throughout their time together, from conflict resolution skills to networking in a business setting. Participants will be empowered in career development by being hosted by an entrepreneurial business in a day at the office, tour of business, and meet and greet with executives. They will learn financial stability through basic budget and credit health classes and working in teams to create and execute a budget for meals for the experience. Participants will coordinate with a local company to preserve the coastal ecosystem of South Carolina as they continue to be a living legacy through service to others; and this will also be showcased in the way they take care of each other during the Experience.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

This online regestration form (look for the blue button at the top of this page) will open on December 18, 2020 and close on January 8, 2020.  

Please note the following event and participation criteria:

1. Participant to be a military surviving child or sibling
2. Within the ages of 18 to 25 years old
3. Complete high school by at the start of this event
4. Be willing to participate in all activities within the scope of the TAPS Young Adult Wild Dunes Experience.
