Boone, North Carolina

You are warmly invited to join the TAPS Empowerment Program at our Women’s Week of Renewal for all women grieving the loss of a loved one who served in the Armed Forces.

In the mental fog of grief, we sometimes feel a yearning for something more, but it can be hard to pinpoint what, exactly, that is. Join other surviving women who seek to step into mindfulness, reclaim their identity and create a new vision for their future.

North Carolina Women's Week of Renewal

This event will focus on the needs of our minds, bodies and spirits as we clarify our direction in life and create our own path to transformation. Using a combination of yoga, meditation, art and journaling, we'll learn practices to improve our resiliency and well-being while creating deeper self-awareness. We'll be inspired by the beautiful surroundings of the Blue Ridge Mountains, gain practical wisdom from a course in happiness, and take inspiration from our TAPS sisters in creating a plan for healing and growth.

During our time together, we'll focus on building connections and fostering accountability within our group. We'll work to establish a supportive community that will provide encouragement and inspiration long after this event ends. Together, we'll honor the past, recognize the present and intentionally step into the future.

Who should attend? Due to the unique nature of this event, TAPS Empowerment events are intended for those survivors whose loss occurred more than two years ago. If you are within the first two years following your loss, we encourage you to attend a traditional TAPS Retreat or Seminar.

SCHEDULE

Day 1: The first day is set aside as a travel day. Once you arrive in North Carolina, TAPS staff will be there to greet you and get you checked in. Then, the day is yours to get settled in, meet fellow survivors, explore the area and relax.

Day 2: We’ll start the day with breakfast and an opening ceremony, giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves and our loved ones. You’ll get an overview of what to expect at the event, along with the opportunity to ask questions. We will begin our practice together with programming aimed at self-discovery, goal setting and mindfulness.

Day 3, 4 and 5: After breakfast, we'll spend the day with a yoga practice and continue programming using tools for self-discovery, goal setting and mindfulness. Day 6: We'll say our final goodbyes and depart from each other.
