Grand Canyon, Arizona

After the death of a loved one, the entire landscape of life changes - routine becomes rigorous, familiar becomes foreign.

This, after all, was not the plan. This was not on your map.

But maybe, in those dark moments where you've felt small and powerless, you've also sensed that you are meant to do something big.

It's not like you're in your comfort zone anyway.

Grand Canyon

Share a thrilling adventure with TAPS survivors as we trek through the Grand Canyon and experience the ancient lands of the Havasupai Indian Reservation, a magical oasis in a remote section of the canyon. Immerse yourself in nature and gain a sense of accomplishment as you experience a sense of grandeur and awe by the landscape around you.

Join us as we find new purpose, gain radical perspective, and remember what it feels like to live with determination.

Who can attend?

TAPS Expeditions are open to all adult survivors over 18 including parents, widows, adult children, siblings, battle buddies, extended family, etc.

What should I expect from this trip?

Journey into the heart of the Grand Canyon with your TAPS family! We will trek deep into the natural wonders of the Havasupai Indian Reservation, spend time discovering hidden trails and canyons, and take a swim in crystal-blue waterfalls and streams. Experienced hiking guides will join us to make it an unforgettable adventure. This trip is being put together through a partnership with REI. For more detailed information, visit www.rei.com/adventures.

How much does it cost?

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, TAPS will cover the cost of the trip, with the exception of your airfare and first night's lodging expenses.

Do I need to plan my own transportation and lodging?

You will need to cover the cost of your transportation to and from Arizona. The closest airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Your first night's lodging will be on your own, but we suggest staying near the REI Paradise Valley store. TAPS will cover the costs for all subsequent lodging and meals.
