Scholarships For Children And Spouses Of Deceased Veterans

ELIGIBILITY

  • Children and unremarried spouses only
  • Children must be between the ages of 16 and 22
  • Spouses must apply within five years of the death of the service member
  • Service member must have been killed in action or died of a service-connected disability on or after Oct. 7, 2001
  • Service member must have been a Florida resident for at least one year immediately prior to death, student's residency requirements are determined by the university
  • Can be used with federal benefits

BENEFITS

  • Financial aid used to pay tuition, fees, books, and room and board
  • Funds up to 110 percent or required credit hours for bachelor’s degree only
  • Covers a maximum of four years
  • Must be used at a Florida state-funded postsecondary institution

DOCUMENTS

  • Copy of DD1300 or DD214
  • Copy of service member's death certificate
  • Copy of student's birth certificate
  • Copy of marriage license for spouses
  • Florida financial aid application
  • Certification from the VA
  • Proof of residency
