Community Resource Associate

DESCRIPTION

This position will collect and organize information on local grief support groups for our surviving families.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify opportunities to provide comfort and caring resources for TAPS survivors.
  • Determine and identify types of helpful support groups for survivors based on demographics, geographic location and type of loss.
  • Create connections with Hospice organizations, funeral homes, hospitals, local police station social services representatives and mental health professionals to identify and track support groups.
  • Contact support groups to ensure they are active and able to support our survivors.
  • Create a comforting and caring report to mail to survivors as part of an extension of TAPS programs and services.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate or Undergraduate Student (Social & Behavioral Sciences, Psychology)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Organized self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Patient and willing to work collaboratively with a team
  • Accountable
  • Strong communication skills, politeness and professionalism on the phone and via email
  • Strong organizational skills and effective time management
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Sensitive to issues of grief and bereavement
  • Professional, enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, “can do” attitude
  • Compassion for working with sensitive survivors of a military loss
  • Self-starter
