Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors Receives $100,000 Gift From The Teton Ridge Foundation

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) has received a $100,000 gift from the Teton Ridge Foundation, the philanthropic wing of Teton Ridge, the wholly American-owned brand devoted to the iconic American Western way of life. Teton Ridge presented the donation during the finals of The American Rodeo, the crown jewel of Western sports and entertainment experiences, on March 6.
Bonnie Carroll, president and founder of TAPS and 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, along with families who are survivors of military loss, accepted the donation.
“We are grateful for the Teton Ridge Foundation and their commitment to caring for the families of America’s fallen military heroes,” said Bonnie Carroll. “This generous donation will be invested in programs and services for those who have lost a military loved one and help them to rebuild, connect, and find hope and a forever family with TAPS.”
Carroll founded TAPS in 1994 following the death of her husband, Brig. Gen. Tom Carroll, who perished in an Army plane crash in 1992. At the time, a national support network for families of America’s fallen military heroes did not exist.
The national nonprofit provides resources, support, and comfort to heal the hearts and meet the needs of grieving military families. These services are provided at no cost to the survivors. When a veteran or member of America’s armed forces passes away, TAPS is on the front lines supporting the loved ones left behind. Today, TAPS is connecting with 25 loved ones each and every day who are grieving a loss. “Members of the Armed Forces and their families share many of the same values that are important to America’s Western culture; there is an unmatched integrity and honesty within each member of the military,” Lindsay Weinstock, Director of Philanthropy for Teton Ridge. “We owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and we honor the courage of the friends and family they left behind. TAPS works to ensure that the bereaved are not alone, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help the organization reach more survivors.”
