TAPS to Present Landmark Study at APA’s 125th Annual Convention

Zaneta Gileno, Dr. Paul Bartone to Discuss 8 Best Practices in Peer Support

ARLINGTON, Va. –The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) will present the findings of the organization’s recent study, Peer Support for Survivors of Traumatic Death: A Systemic Review, during the American Psychological Association’s (APA) 125th Annual Convention in Washington on Thursday.  

Zaneta Gileno, TAPS Director of Community Based Care, and Researcher Dr. Paul Bartone will present the study to Division 56, Trauma Psychology, on Aug. 3 from 10 to 10:50 a.m. on Level Two of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Halls D and E.

“TAPS is honored to have undertaken this monumental research on peer support and to continue to contribute to the identification of essential components and best practices,” said Gileno. “This systematic review, which looked at the leading organizations in the field of peer support, identified eight essential ingredients to the success of peer programming.  The TAPS comprehensive model of care robustly provides all eight best practices as evidenced by the research.” 

In addition, Gileno will host a conversation hour with TAPS on Thursday from noon to 12:50 p.m. in the Divison 19 Hospitality Suite, located in room 312 of the Renaissance Washington, D.C. Downtown Hotel.
