FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Sept. 27, 2017

ARLINGTON, Va. -– The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) will host a breakfast panel presentation on military survivor benefits and resources for Congressional office staff members on Friday, Sept. 29, at 8 a.m. in the House Veterans Affairs Committee Hearing Room, Cannon 334.

Entitled, “After the Bugle Stops – A Discussion of Resources to Help Surviving Family Members of Servicemembers and Veterans,” TAPS experts in counseling, casework assistance and survivor education benefits will be joined by representatives from the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Office of Casualty and Mortuary Affairs and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Survivor Assistance.

“Many times, surviving family members reach out to their Congressional offices with questions about military and veteran survivor benefits and programs,” said Kathy Moakler, TAPS Director of Survivor Advocacy. “These questions can frequently be addressed by connecting them to government or private resources.”

Staff interested in attending the event may RSVP to rsvp@taps.org. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. with the panel discussion taking place from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
