Childhood Traumatic Grief [CTG] for Military Children

What:
TAPS is honored to co-host and participate in an upcoming meeting to adapt information about Childhood Traumatic Grief (CTG) for military children.  [See Agenda, below]
 
When:
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 17 from 9 AM -2 PM
 
Where:
 The Army-Navy Club, located at 901 17th Street, NW, Washington, D.C., is conveniently located adjacent to the Farragut Square Metro stop. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
 
Please note: The Army Navy Club has a dress code which requires men to wear uniforms, or ties and jackets with collared shirts; no jeans or shorts, and appropriate footwear. Women should be attired equally respectfully.  
 
Why:
The goal of this project is to develop culturally-competent, childhood traumatic grief (CTG) educational materials for children of military families. 
 
The meeting will focus on adapting the National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s (NCTSN) CTG educational materials for parents, school personnel and pediatric providers, to be optimal for military children. The original educational materials have been sent to you previously and are available at www.nctsn.org under the Traumatic Grief tab.   Please contact Judy Cohen if you have not received these materials.

9:45:   Overview of Project: goals and products to be developed
 
10:00:  Discussion and decision-making:
  1. Do we need three work groups or a common work group?

  2. If three, we need to identify team leaders for each group

  3. Provisional time line has been proposed, can we meet it?

  4. Which educational sheet (e.g., short or long) will we be adapting; is the existing material
    sufficient; do we need to incorporate other information (e.g., from TAPS, Living in the New Normal, other sources, how can we optimally access these materials, etc.)

  5. Brief consideration of optimal format and distribution for materials after they are developed; who might be partners in this regard?

10:45:  Continued discussion of issues above; other considerations; begin adaptation
 
12:00:  Working buffet lunch, continue discussion related to adaptations   
 
1:00:    Next steps: Specific goals and timeline for the rest of the project
