April is Month of the Military Child, a time designated in 1986 to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of children whose parents committed to selfless service to our great nation. No sacrifice is greater than that of children who have lost a close loved one – a father, mother, brother, sister, grandparent, aunt or uncle. These youngest of survivors have found a safe space at TAPS, where they can explore their grief and embrace healing, camaraderie, mentorship, and laughter. Military mentors volunteer thousands of hours each year reminding these children they will always be part of the military community. In this brief slideshow, witness the joy on their faces and the love in their hearts.
