ABOUT THE RACE

Imagine sleeping under the stars with your teammates, working together to push each other physically and being reminded that the world is big enough to hold our pain and handle our triumphs. If that sounds like fun to you, join us in the great outdoors for the Ragnar Trail Carolinas relay.

Located at the Anne Springs Close Greenway, about 45 minutes outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, runners will find a gorgeous venue that features smooth single track trails perfect for running, plush grass great for camping and the almost tangible magic as the Carolinas transition into fall. Our eight-person team will run 24 relay legs on beautiful, yet rugged trails through the forest and past rivers, streams and ponds. At night, the celebration continues under the stars at the Ragnar Village where we will enjoy campfires, s'mores, movies and a sense of community that only comes from shared purpose, stories and physical challenge.

ADVENTURE LEVEL

Each participant will run three trail legs with only several hours of recovery between each run, so you must you must be committed to training, or in consistently good running shape.

We will hold weekly training calls to share training plans and prepare for the race. Trail running draws on different muscles in the feet, legs and core. The footing will be rugged, so trail shoes and trail running practice is needed. In addition to a training plan, participants will be provided with regular coaching and foot/leg/core exercises to build strength. View Sample Training Plans and Trail Running Information.

We will be camping, so it is important that you are at home in the outdoors. While this isn't backcountry camping (meals will be available for purchase, and you'll also be able to bring your own food), we will be running and camping. TAPS will provide canopy tents for general shelter, and we'll plan the rest of our equipment together on our weekly calls. Check out the Ragnar Packing Guide.
